“I believe that this would equally harm Russia, so it would not be in their interests to block the access of Europeans to the gas pipeline,” RIA Novosti quotes Thomas-Greenfield’s answer to a question about US plans in case Russia responds to sanctions cut off gas to Europe in an interview with the Italian broadcaster RAI.
She noted that, nevertheless, the US plan for this case is to support its allies in any situation, including Russia's actions on gas.
Earlier, Thomas-Greenfield said that the United States is considering the use of military measures against Russia in the event of an escalation of the situation in Ukraine.
