The UAE Badminton Federation and the UAE Special Olympics won the BWF International Award in its first session granted by the International Badminton Federation, in the category of the most integrated program globally for the years 2020/2021, surpassing the files submitted by Switzerland, Norway, Peru and Uganda, and the award comes in recognition of their efforts The strategic partnership between the Emirates Badminton Federation and the UAE Special Olympics has turned badminton into one of the most successful sports integration experiences for people of determination in the UAE and the world.

The UAE Badminton Federation had launched, in cooperation with the UAE Special Olympics, a joint action strategy in 2020. The strategy focused on four main areas: development, events, partnerships, and communication, and it was agreed that it would be implemented with the support of regional and national partners, within the framework of the global strategy Joint development of badminton between the International Special Olympics and the International Badminton Federation.

Last year, the UAE Special Olympics organized three badminton forums in cooperation with the International Badminton Federation and the Emirates Badminton Federation in Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai, to consolidate the concept of unified sports and encourage people of determination to practice badminton.

Ghazi Al-Madani, member of the UAE Badminton Federation, Vice-Chairman of the Financial Committee of the Asian Badminton Federation, said: "We are very pleased to have won the BWF award, with the UAE Special Olympics, the most integrated program category. This award confirms how the UAE and its wise leadership support and develop different sports, This support is evident in the official facilities for holding its events, and I am pleased that the award is the culmination of intense efforts made by the sports development committees of the International Badminton Federation, the Emirates Badminton Federation and the UAE Special Olympics to introduce badminton and use it as a means to integrate people of determination into society.”
