The two heads of government and the Presidential Council in Libya pledge to hand over power if fair elections are held

Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba said on Friday that he would hand over power if elections were held "in a consensual and fair manner among all parties."

This came in a statement by Dabaiba during a press conference in Paris following an international conference on Libya.

The President of the Presidential Council, Muhammad al-Manfi, also said during the press conference that the council would hand over power if "the (elections) commission is able to organize parliamentary and presidential elections on December 24."

"There is no dispute over holding the elections on December 24," Al-Manfei added.

World powers had agreed during the conference that they would press in the direction of imposing sanctions on any party or person who disrupts the electoral process and the political transition in Libya.
