Today, Tuesday, a Sudanese court postponed the trial of ousted Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and 27 of his senior aides in the case of orchestrating the June 30, 1989 coup, to the November 30 session.
The Special Court for the trial of the accused in the June 30, 1989 coup held its session today in the capital, Khartoum. Sudan News Agency (SUNA).
The defense team also asked the court to register a reservation about the repeated and deliberate absence of the indictment whenever political circumstances occurred.
The defense team indicated that the absence of the accusation is unacceptable and affects the course of justice and the rights of clients to obtain a fair and prompt trial.
The judge of the court said that the absence of the indictment panel was justified according to the statement received, which explains the reason for the absence of the head of the indictment, which was previously read out at the beginning of this session.
He explained that the court decided to hold another session with the indictment re-announcement and to address the Public Prosecutor in charge of assigning an alternative indictment panel if it was not possible to attend the previous panel.
The head of the court indicated that the request for a group visit of the accused is not justified as long as each accused has a separate accusation, as the court allows the defense team to meet with each accused separately.
