He had already been a candidate against Manuel Valls in Essone in 2017. The singer Francis Lalanne filed his candidacy for the legislative elections (June 12-19) in the 3rd district of Charente, the prefecture said on Friday evening, confirming information from La Charente Libre.

"Without the tutelage of a party"

According to the newspaper, the 63-year-old singer-songwriter, known for his involvement with yellow vests and within the anti-vax sphere, presents himself under the label of a movement called "France Libre" and his campaign poster bears the mentions “animalist, humanist, ecologist, sovereignist”.

"I present myself as a simple citizen to achieve responsibilities without the tutelage of a party," said Francis Lalanne to La Charente Libre.

“I will not decide anything, I will establish a permanent consultation with my voters to bring their voice to the Assembly”.

Last week, the industrial tribunal of Rochefort (Charente-Maritime) had asked the production company of Fort Boyard to pay nearly 10,000 euros in compensation to Francis Lalanne, after his dismissal in 2020 from the show at success in which he had appeared between 2016 to 2019.

His lawyer had assured that the eviction of Francis Lalanne from the show was explained in particular by "his membership in the movement of yellow vests".
