Media reports stated that members of the medical and nursing staff who supervised the late Argentine star Diego Maradona will be put on trial for negligent homicide.
And local media in Argentina reported that a judge approved the prosecution's request to hold a public trial for the accused, and the trial may be in late 2023 or early 2024.
The name of Leopold Loki, Maradona's personal physician, is among the eight accused, in addition to his psychiatrist Augustina Kosachov.
According to investigators, the medical staff did not provide assistance to Maradona while he was in a state of incapacitation and left him to his fate.
They all denied the charges and, if convicted, face up to 25 years in prison.
Maradona died at the age of 60 on November 25, 2020 in a private house in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, a few weeks after he underwent brain surgery.
