Attempts by the tourism sector to stimulate a still fearful demand to travel are focusing on

creating bubbles of more or less Covid-free spaces

through testing.

Some airlines are doing them to their passengers before boarding and cruise ships are doing up to two PCRs.

The Room Mate chain is the first in the hotel sector to join this initiative and will carry out rapid antigen tests at check-in for customers

staying at its hotels and also for its entire team.

"The most important thing is to restore health confidence to tourists

. Some airlines are already doing it and these tests, which are cheap and faster than PCR, seem like a blessing to us," explains Kike Sarasola, president of the hotel chain to EL MUNDO .

These tests have a lower cost than PCR, the results are known in about 20 minutes

and they have a high reliability.

The hotel chain will carry out these tests on its clients

with the support of Quirónprevention's health personnel.

Clients can take a test in their city of origin, in one of the Quirón clinics in Spain, between three and five days before their arrival at the hotel and present the document on site.

They can also do it upon arrival, as

there will always be an operating nurse from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. to

carry

out these tests.

In a first phase,

these tests will be available in the four hotels of the company in Spain

(Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and Granada).

In a next phase, the rest of the company's hotels around the world will join in and during this summer in the next openings of its beach hotels.

In addition to the tests, clients will be offered a constant monitoring service during the stay of their symptoms through an application.

"We would love for other chains to join this measure

and for all the hoteliers in Madrid to do so," says Sarasola.

Room Mate has 70% of its establishments outside of Spain.

"If it goes well, this will be the best investment ever," says Sarasola.
