China News Service, Xining, May 3 (Sun Rui) The reporter learned from the State Power Investment Yellow River Hydropower Company (hereinafter referred to as the "Yellow River Company") on the 3rd that the pre-feasibility study report for the Longyangxia large-scale energy storage plant project has passed the review. It is also the world's first energy storage demonstration project for the recycling of water energy between cascade power stations.

According to reports, the Longyangxia large-scale energy storage plant project is located on the main stream of the Yellow River at the junction of Gonghe County and Guinan County in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. The project owner is the Yellow River Company.

The project innovatively utilizes the hydropower resources of the cascade power stations on the mainstream of the Yellow River, uses new energy and wastes electricity to pump water and stores energy through the pumping station, pumps water from the Laxiwa Hydropower Station reservoir to the Longyangxia Hydropower Station reservoir, and uses the Longyangxia Hydropower Station existing units to increase power generation , Innovatively solve the problem of new energy curtailment, and is the world's first energy storage demonstration project for the recycling of water energy between cascade power stations.

The Yellow River Company stated that the construction of this project can effectively improve Qinghai Province's new energy consumption capacity, further improve the efficiency of new energy utilization, promote the construction of Qinghai's clean energy industry highland, and provide strong support for achieving national carbon peaks and carbon neutrality.

Longyangxia is located in Gonghe County, Qinghai. It is the first large-scale cascade power station on the upper reaches of the Yellow River.

It can not only block the annual flow of 130,000 square kilometers in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, but also form a huge artificial lake with an area of 380 square kilometers and a total storage capacity of 24.7 billion cubic meters.
