Members of the PMC of Moscow ask to urgently repair the ventilation in the pre-trial detention center "Matrosskaya Tishina".

As noted in the human rights organization, the prisoners of the capital's pre-trial detention center suffer from heat and stuffiness due to a non-functioning ventilation system in some buildings.

“Today, when checking the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center, it turned out that in some buildings the ventilation system failed, the prisoners and the staff of the detention center are suffocating, it is necessary to allocate additional funds for its urgent repair,” the PMC representative said.

According to him, the "scale of the disaster" became obvious to the members of the commission even in the corridors - before they entered the cells and listened to the complaints of the arrested.

He added that, by decision of the administration, glass was removed from the windows of the cells, but even such a measure does not save from stuffiness, especially considering that the cells are overcrowded: there are from five to ten prisoners over the limit.

The PMC also added that many prisoners complained of toothache, which they had to endure for several weeks because the doctor was on vacation.
