The meeting clarified that the most stringent epidemic prevention measures will be adopted in the 2021 Mount Everest climbing season, and the focus of epidemic prevention and control is on the summit of Mount Everest.

  Mount Everest is located on the border between China and Nepal, and the climbing routes are located on the northern slope on the Chinese side and the southern slope on the Nepalese side.

Recently, media reported that a climber in the southern slope base camp in Nepal was diagnosed with new crown pneumonia, and the prevention and control of the Mount Everest epidemic has aroused great attention from outsiders.

  Nyima Tsering, director of the Sports Bureau of the Tibet Autonomous Region, told a reporter from China News Agency that in 2021 there will be two teams climbing from the northern slope in China, one is for the 21-member team to climb Mount Everest, and the other is for the North Col of Mount Everest. A team of 17 people on foot.

There are no confirmed cases of new crowns on the northern slope of Mount Everest.

  "The focus of epidemic prevention and control is on the summit of Mount Everest." Nima Tsering said that after learning of the outbreak on the southern slope of Nepal, the Tibetan mountaineering management department attached great importance to it and strengthened epidemic prevention and control measures in all aspects.

Due to the different climbing routes on the north and south sides, the prevention and control of the epidemic at the summit of Mount Everest is the top priority.

  He said that the mountaineering management department will send a prevention and control team composed of professional guides before the climbers rush to the summit to start work in advance, and set up isolation lines on the side of the peak to prohibit people and objects on the north and south slopes from contacting each other. These measures have been repeatedly emphasized to the climbers."

  In addition, the mountaineering department also focuses on epidemic prevention and elimination of the mountaineering base camp on the northern slope of Mount Everest and various camps along the way.

  Liao Ken, deputy secretary of the Xigaze Municipal Party Committee of Tibet, said in an interview with a reporter from China News Agency that government departments attach great importance to epidemic prevention and control and strictly implement various epidemic prevention measures, especially airports and traffic gates, which have been carefully arranged to prevent death.
