“At a government meeting on Monday morning, it was decided not to let into the territory of Ukraine without going through self-isolation of persons who were on the territory of certain countries of South Africa for more than seven days in the last 14 days.

In the future, the list of countries may be expanded, ”the ministry said in a statement on its website.

It is noted that tourists arriving from the Republic of South Africa, the Republic of Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, the Kingdom of Lesotho, the Kingdom of Eswatini, and the Republic of Mozambique must undergo quarantine.

Earlier, the Spanish authorities introduced a mandatory ten-day quarantine for persons arriving from a number of African countries, where a new strain of the omicron coronavirus was detected.

On November 25, it became known that scientists have identified a new strain of coronavirus in Botswana, South Africa and Hong Kong, which could potentially become the most dangerous.

Later it was designated by the Greek letter "omicron".

The World Health Organization has recommended that countries be prepared to strengthen social and sanitary measures amid the emergence of the omicron coronavirus strain.
