"The Little Prince" (1943), in its guise as a children's story, is dedicated to a grown-up: Léon Werth (1878-1955), the best friend that Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944) had in the world .
Léon Werth was a novelist, essayist, art critic and journalist, as well as a libertarian, anti-militarist, poet and devourer of life.
It was in the early 1930s that he befriended Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, before the Second World War separated them.
Jew and communist, Werth must hide, while Saint-Exupéry leaves to fight without knowing if his friend is alive or dead...
Not to be missed: from February 17 to June 26, 2022, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris welcomes the exhibition "Meeting the Little Prince", the first major French exhibition devoted to Saint-Exupéry's masterpiece.
