In his film “The Last Duel”, in theaters since October 13, director Ridley Scott brings us back to the very last legal duel authorized by the Parliament of France.

In Paris, on December 29, 1386, the knight Jean de Carrouges and the squire Jacques Legris clash in a fight at the end of which there will be only one survivor.

This duel, arbitrated by God, must bring out the truth.

Did Jacques Legris rape Marguerite de Carrouges?

We take a look back at a judicial duel which, by involving God in human affairs, embodies the very spirit of the Middle Ages.
