“Obviously, if Gazprom completes the construction of Nord Stream 2, then the Ukrainian GTS will become redundant for it. I see no reason for Gazprom to extend gas transit through Ukraine after 2025, although our transit tariffs are absolutely competitive, ”he said.

According to him, if you put aside all political issues, then both Gazprom and Europe should use the capacities of the Ukrainian GTS and UGS facilities.

“We have a flexible system that can quickly respond to changing demand in Europe and within a few hours start supplying additional volumes of gas to the EU. Neither Nord Stream nor Turkish Stream will be able to provide such flexibility, ”said Makogon.
