The head of state adopts amendments to the federal law to regulate labor relations
His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, has adopted the decree of a federal law amending some provisions of the law regulating labor relations, through which the worker in the private sector is given a paid leave to care for his child, and thus the UAE will be the first Arab country to grant parental leave to a worker in the private sector .
The decree-law aims to enhance the leadership of the state, raise its competitiveness in the field of gender balance, achieve family cohesion and stability, and encourage young talents to engage in work in the private sector, as "parental leave" is the latest benefit for workers in the private sector to enhance the role of parents. The Federal Decree-Law stipulates that a worker in the private sector shall be granted a paid “parental leave” for a period of five working days to care for his child, due from the date of the child's birth until the completion of six months.
The legislative step that was adopted under this decree by a law strengthens the ranks of the state in the field of enacting laws in the field of gender balance to create a competitive model for the world and enhance the work environment in the private sector in the country to align the next phase within the state’s directions to prepare for the next 50 years.
