The G20 countries have pledged more than $ 21 billion to fight the Corona virus, a group statement said early Saturday morning.
"The G20 and the invited countries have led global efforts to support the fight against the Corona Virus pandemic, which has resulted, to date, in pledges of more than $ 21 billion to support global health financing," the statement said.
"These contributions will be allocated to diagnostic tools, vaccines, therapies and research and development work," the statement added.
In April, the group called on all countries, NGOs, charities, and the private sector to help bridge a financial gap of more than $ 8 billion to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
Saudi Arabia, which currently chairs the Group of Twenty, has pledged $ 500 million to support global efforts to combat the pandemic. She said that she will allocate $ 150 million to the Alliance for Epidemic Preparation, $ 150 million to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, and $ 200 million to other competent international and regional health and international organizations and programs.
