It's a huge earthquake in French football!
The DNCG appeal committee of the FFF has confirmed the administrative demotion of the Girondins de Bordeaux to National 1 due to very serious financial difficulties.
Gérard Lopez, the owner and president of the club, failed to convince the body despite a conciliation agreement obtained at the end of last week with his creditors, the American investment funds, Fortress and King Street.
This administrative demotion should lead to the club's bankruptcy and its liquidation.
Management has not planned to appeal to the CNOSF according to L'Equipe.
The timing being too short for it to be bought in the coming weeks before the start of the Ligue 2 championship, the club should start again this season at the amateur level, in N3, the fifth French division where the Girondins de Bordeaux reserve plays.
