China News Service, Beijing, August 20 (Guo Chaokai) The reporter learned from the China National Space Administration that on August 20, China's high-resolution earth observation system Gaofen-7 satellite was officially put into use. As China’s first civil sub-meter optical transmission type 3D surveying and mapping satellite, the launch of the satellite marks the initial formation of the space-based earth-based observation capabilities of high spatial resolution, high temporal resolution, and high-precision observation created by Gaofen Special Project. It will further meet the data needs of users in basic surveying and mapping, global geographic information assurance, urban and rural construction monitoring and evaluation, and agricultural survey statistics.

The Gaofen-7 satellite was successfully launched on November 3, 2019. The satellite is equipped with payloads such as dual-line array stereo cameras and laser altimeters. It breaks through sub-meter stereo mapping camera technology and can obtain high spatial resolution optical stereo Observation data and high-precision laser altimetry data.

This project is the world's first satellite project that uses a two-line array + laser altimetry system to achieve 1:10000 stereo mapping, which has greatly improved the level of China's satellite earth observation and stereo mapping. The satellite can not only meet the relevant data needs of Chinese domestic users, but also provide powerful spatial information support for countries along the "Belt and Road", which is of great significance to serve economic and social development and enhance China's aerospace international influence.

During the satellite in-orbit test, a series of functions such as land illegal supervision, basic feature element identification, crop planting area measurement, and highway construction monitoring were verified. To help the Mount Everest elevation survey in May this year, the National Land Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources of China used satellites such as Gaofen No. 7 and Ziyuan No. 3 to obtain remote sensing images, and drew a 1:10000 scale topographic map for the climbing team. The top provides terrain reference; with the help of the three-dimensional mapping function, the satellite provides high-resolution three-dimensional data for the investigation and punishment of the illegal construction of the "Caoyuan" in Mudanjiang; in terms of highway construction and construction monitoring, the satellite aims at the design and construction of high traffic slopes. Multi-phase images are used to identify and interpret the progress of high slope construction and the amount of slope filling and excavation. In the next stage, satellites will carry out further research and applications in global geographic information acquisition and autonomous data provision.

Zhang Kejian, director of the China National Space Administration, emphasized that 2020 is a critical year for the promotion and construction of high score special data applications. It is necessary to strengthen the construction of the data application promotion system and build a national remote sensing data sharing application service platform; it is necessary to strengthen international data exchange and sharing, and international product production. Building core capabilities such as services to further shape the "China High Score" international cooperation core brand, and promote China’s transformation from a space power to a space power; it is necessary to further strengthen the linkage application of high score projects and multi-class satellites, and test the successful "high score mode" "Promote and apply it to the subsequent implementation of national civil space infrastructure.

The high score special project is one of the sixteen major special projects identified in China’s "National Medium and Long-term Science and Technology Development Plan (2006-2020)". Since its approval in 2010, it has successfully launched a number of high score satellites. The data is widely used in more than 20 industries and 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities).

After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia this year, the Gaofen-2 satellite captured a series of remote sensing images during the construction of Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital, which provided strong support for construction progress monitoring. Since the flood season, the Gaofen-3 satellite has tracked and photographed the Poyang Lake area, capturing and analyzing flood data around the clock, which has greatly improved the area's flood resistance and disaster relief capabilities. In terms of precision poverty alleviation, China uses high-scoring remote sensing data as the support to accurately survey the ecological environment resource background of Longnan City, Gansu Province, analyze the characteristics and causes of regional poverty, and play an important role in enhancing the hematopoietic function and endogenous power of poor areas. In 2019, some foreign anti-China activists declared on social accounts that China's "Three Gorges Dam has been deformed." In response, Gaofen 6 took satellite images of the Three Gorges Dam, directly and powerfully countering false rumors. The wide application of high-resolution satellites has become an important data and technical support in various fields and departments of the national economy. (Finish)
