2020 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cuba. The former captain of the Cuban National Women's Volleyball Team, Mireya Luiz, recently recorded a video to congratulate the Chinese people.

As a legendary Cuban women's volleyball player, Luis was known as the three main attackers of the world women's volleyball team in the 1980s along with the then American women's ranking Flora Heyman and Chinese women's ranking Lang Ping. In the video, Louis expressed his gratitude to the Chinese people and the athletes who have played against us many times in China.

Louis said: "I always remember my Chinese partners, such as Lang Ping, Yang Xilan, Wu Dan, and many other team members. They have won great honors for the Chinese people."

In the video, Luiz also missed the coach Eugenio Jorge Rafaita, who led the Cuban women's volleyball team to win the "eight consecutive championships" in the three major tournaments in the 1990s. She said: "Mr. Eugenio has contributed to the relationship between the two countries. I believe that if he is still alive, he will personally send this congratulatory message."

Luis blessed at the end of the video: "I hope the relationship between Cuba and China will continue to develop, and long live the friendship!" (Video source from Cuban Embassy in China reporter Bo Wenwen, editor Le Xiaomin)
