Coronavirus requires, the 72nd edition of the Emmy Awards took up on Sunday the bet of a 100% virtual ceremony with the comedian Jimmy Kimmel (almost) alone in front of an (almost) deserted room.

Pand'Emmys

The Covid-19 contaminated the 72nd edition of the Emmy Awards.

"The big question is why are you having an awards show in the middle of a pandemic, no seriously, I'm asking why we are having an awards show in the middle of a pandemic," Jimmy Kimmel said at the start of the ceremony faced a virtual crowd from previous Emmys.

A passage that caused a lot of confusion on social networks, before the comedian finally revealed that he was all alone at Staples Center, well, with the exception of a motionless Jason Bateman.

After thanking the show's creator, the young star added, “I know it's a really, really weird time to party but I just want to say that there is hope in young people.

I know our series is not always a good example of this, but there is hope among young people ”.

Anthony Anderson's Powerful "Black Lives Matter"

to the Staples Center stage alongside Jimmy Kimmel for a skit about how the 2020 Emmys would have been an incredible ceremony for black Americans, if the audience could have been there in no one.

“We have a record number of Black Emmy nominees this year, which is great,” he began.

And to continue: “This is the moment when the whites start to applaud and nod their heads.

“It was supposed to be the blackest Emmys of all time.

You wouldn't be able to handle how Black that would be, "said Anderson," but because of the Covid, we can't even get into that damn building!

"These Emmys would have been the all-star weekend of the NBA and Wakanda all in one," he added.

Anthony Anderson went on to say that there would have been speeches citing Black American writer, poet, actress and activist Maya Angelou, Black American poet, short story writer, playwright and columnist Langston Hughes and even rapper Cardi B.

“It's not what it should have been, but I continue to support all black people because black stories, performances and lives are important,” he said again.

The two men then sang "Black Lives Matter" louder and louder.

“That's right, and because black lives are important, blacks will stay home tonight to be safe.

Which is good, because guess what?

You don't know how to enlighten us anyway, ”he concluded.
