At around 10:20 am local time on the 17th, the police received a report that the "4th floor of the Dojima Kita" building on the 8th floor of 1-3-17 Sonezaki Shinchi, Kita-ku, Osaka was on fire.
According to the Osaka City Fire Department, 27 people had their heart and lungs stopped.
The relevant personnel of the Osaka police handling the case stated that 24 people have been confirmed dead in the fire in the downtown area of Osaka City.
According to Kyodo News, the fire area on the 4th floor was about 20 square meters, and the fire was basically extinguished around 10:45 in the morning.
Regarding the cause of the fire, Kyodo News quoted relevant investigators as saying that the Osaka Prefectural Police believed that there was a possibility of man-made arson and was investigating.
According to reports, the scene of the incident was located in a corner of the downtown Kitashinchi high-end nightclub near JR Osaka Station.
A woman working nearby said: “I saw people whose whole bodies were smoked soot were carried out of the smoke-blooming building on a stretcher one after another, and others were undergoing cardiac resuscitation, and the scene was in panic.” (Production Zhou Jing)
