And its government's handling of the uproar caused by the US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan.

On March 25, local time, U.S. President Biden held the first official press conference in more than 60 days since he took office, answering hot issues such as border crisis, gun control, and infrastructure planning.

This poll conducted from August 14 to 17 showed that 49% of Americans surveyed said they agreed with Biden's work performance.

This result is the first time that Biden has worked in the agency's polls with a support rate of less than 50%.

Compared to a similar poll conducted by NBC in April, Biden’s approval rating dropped slightly, when 53% of people said they recognized his work performance.

In the April poll, Biden’s disapproval rate was much lower, when only 39% of people said they disapproved of the performance of the job.

In the latest opinion poll, 48% of registered voters said they disapprove of the president’s overall work performance, while only 43% expressed the same view in April.

However, even if the approval rate drops, NBC News pointed out that Biden's approval rate in the polls is still higher than the approval rate obtained by former President Trump in all past polls.

A more detailed breakdown of recent polls shows that Biden still has strong support from Democrats. 88% of Democratic respondents said they support his work performance, which is only 2 percentage points lower than the April poll.

NBC pointed out that Biden's support rate among independents, white Americans and people in rural areas has declined.

The decline in support comes at a time when there has been a surge in cases in parts of the United States in recent months, driven by the rapidly spreading delta variant.

In addition, 47% of the interviewees said they agreed with Biden's government in handling the country's economic recovery, while 49% of the interviewees disagreed.

In April, the support and non-support rates were 52% and 43%, respectively.

The new opinion poll released by NBC News on the 22nd was conducted among 1,000 adults, and the overall margin of error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
