Compared with the past, due to the increase in the scale of graduates, the increasing pressure on economic development, and the continued epidemic, the employment situation faced by college graduates this year is more complex and severe.

How to fight the "tough battle" for employment?

The first batch of post-00s are trying to find a suitable employment path for them.

At the same time, from the central to local governments, universities and employers, many parties are working hard to escort their employment.

This year, my country's college graduates broke the 10 million mark for the first time, setting a new historical record.

Compared with the past, due to the increase in the scale of graduates, the increasing pressure on economic development, the continued epidemic, and the structural contradictions in employment, the employment situation faced by college graduates this year is more complex and severe.

The undergraduate freshmen graduating in 2022 happen to be the first batch of post-00s.

The first lesson they walked out of the ivory tower was to rush to determine their graduation destination.

Failed in the postgraduate entrance examination, preparing for the public examination but the provincial examination time has not been determined, and their resumes are in the dark... Some of them are under pressure and try their best to find a suitable employment path for them.

At the same time, from the central government to the local government, from colleges and universities to employers, policies and measures to promote employment have been introduced frequently, which are also helping them to fight the "tough battle" for employment.

  Running on the job search

At 8:30 in the morning, Liang Mu put his computer on his back and came to the hall of the college.

In the hall, she often meets familiar classmates and teachers, can share job search experience with classmates, and ask teachers for employment information.

Liang Mu is a senior at the School of Journalism and Communication, Guangxi University, and is also a member of the 4.57 million graduate student army.

After careful consideration, she decided to apply for the postgraduate entrance examination of this school. After checking the scores of the postgraduate entrance examination in February this year, she found that her score was 11 points higher than the national line last year.

Full of confidence, Liang Mu began to prepare for the re-examination, but unexpectedly caught up with the year when the national line rose the most, and finally passed the re-examination line by 1 point.

In late March, Liang Mu's loss due to the failure of the postgraduate entrance examination did not last long, and a new round of pressure came quietly.

Missed last year's autumn recruitment, did not get admitted to graduate school, and caught up with the employment season under the epidemic. Although she told herself to try her best to calm down when applying for a job, she still felt anxious.

In April, she participated in the spring online dual-selection meeting held by the school. She entered the "Cloud Employment Platform" of Guangxi University by scanning the QR code on her mobile phone, and clicked to register to see more than 9,000 positions marked in it.

"But after I and many classmates submitted resumes, we haven't heard back for a long time.

"I received a reply from a media in Liuzhou before, and the other party told me that I need to do a 6-month internship before signing the contract." However, Liang Mu could not determine whether the contract could be successfully signed after the internship, and there was no way to guarantee other aspects. He rejected this unit, "I still want to find a job that meets my expectations, but it may be more difficult to find a satisfactory job in the future."

When asked if he would consider taking the "World War II" postgraduate entrance examination, Liang Mu shook his head and said, "Although it is a real pity this year, it would be too risky to prepare for the exam after a full-time job. I plan to take a job first and then consider this matter."

Luck is built on good preparation

Many of the students who have signed the contract signed it during the autumn recruitment last year.

Like Liang Mu, the students who failed the postgraduate entrance examination missed some jobs because they started to pay attention to employment information relatively late.

Xiaoou, a student majoring in advertising, has been recruited from last autumn to this spring. He has submitted more than 40 resumes in operations, planning and other positions. Some of them have responded, and some have been interviewed. Work, "I participated in the school recruitment work when I was an intern before. In the case of a large number of resumes, education is our first screening condition. Although I also graduated from 211 colleges, I don't have any advantages."

Due to the many obstacles to finding a job, Xiaoou also came up with the idea of taking a postgraduate exam to improve his education.

But graduate students also face the pressure of job hunting.

Gu Xing is a third-year graduate student. He submitted a total of 43 resumes from the autumn recruitment in September last year to March this year, "I initially applied for copywriting and planning positions in some game companies, and I think the conditions are in line with their recruitment. Requests, but in the end I received very few responses.”

He interned at NetEase Games for a period of time when he was a second-year graduate student, but this internship experience did not give him much advantage when applying for a job after graduation.

In the end, he failed to go to his favorite game company, but passed the exam and entered a state-owned enterprise in Guangxi.

"Not everyone is lucky enough to find a satisfying job in the first place," he said.

Xiao Yang might be one of the lucky ones that Gu Xing said.

Xiao Yang mastered mainstream programming languages during his undergraduate studies, participated in many practical projects, and obtained a highly valuable skill certificate in the IT field.

In early December last year, Xiao Yang participated in an offline seminar for the first time and handed his resume to a favorite company.

After two or three days, the person in charge of the company's personnel contacted him and directly asked him to skip the preliminary test such as the interview with the leaderless group and participate in the final test.

The final exam was successfully completed, and Xiao Yang started a 6-month internship in this company, and he could officially sign the contract when he got his graduation certificate.

"Lucky is based on adequate preparation in the early stage." Xiao Yang said with emotion.

Employment support from relevant departments to colleges and universities is indispensable

In the "2022 College Student Employability Survey Report" released by Zhaopin in April, many college students believe that employment is a very stressful thing.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security also released a list of 100 occupations that recruited more than job-seekers nationwide in the first quarter of this year. The top five were service occupations such as marketers, restaurant waiters, commercial salespersons, car workers, and security guards.

However, the shortage of occupational demand in the market does not match the employment expectations of college graduates, and there are situations in which companies cannot recruit people and graduates cannot find jobs.

How to promote graduates to achieve fuller and higher-quality employment requires the efforts of schools, society and graduates.

On May 9, the 2022 College Graduate Employment Promotion Week was officially launched, and college employment work has also entered the "100-day sprint" stage.

Perhaps the employment guidance courses given to the 2022 class of graduates played a role. At present, the implementation rate of graduates from the School of Journalism of Guangxi University is higher than that of the same period last year.

Mr. Liu, who is in charge of employment work at the college, believes that while doing the "hundred-day sprint" for the employment of graduates this year, the employment guidance work for the next graduates should also keep up.

"This semester, I did a survey before giving the career guidance class to the third-year students, and found that most of the students did not have any social experience and did not have a clear understanding of employment. These students are easy to follow the crowd when thinking about their graduation, which leads to They are flocking to postgraduate entrance exams, and they don’t know much about the civil service exam.” In order to let the juniors who are about to enter the graduating class have a deeper understanding of their graduation destination, Mr. Liu invited students from the college who have successfully entered the school and signed a contract to share their experience in the class. .

Teacher Liu suggested: "Junior students who are about to enter the society should have a deeper understanding of postgraduate entrance examinations, public examinations, employment, etc., abandon some employment prejudices, and establish a correct employment concept. For example, many graduates want to stay in college. Cities, but the competition pressure in big cities is high, and it is difficult for some graduates with insufficient education level to gain a foothold.
