The Emirati Division participates in a session of the Arab Parliament

The delegation of the Parliamentary Division of the Federal National Council participated in the first Arab Parliament session of the second session of the third legislative term, which was held today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, the Arab Republic of Egypt.

His Excellency Muhammad Ahmed Al-Yamahi, Chairman of the Group, Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament, member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Political and National Security, said that the Arab Parliament session, which was held in the presence of the Speaker of the Yemeni Shura Council, shed light on the most prominent Arab issues, as many important decisions were issued in various issues of Arab countries as well as On the developments of the Renaissance Dam issue and the water security of Egypt and Sudan.

For her part, Her Excellency Naama Al-Sharhan, Second Vice President of the Council, Vice President of the Group, Member of the Committee on Social, Educational and Cultural Affairs, Women and Youth, explained that today’s session adopted the report submitted by the Social Affairs Committee, which dealt with the most prominent topics it discussed, including the efforts of Arab countries in combating the emerging corona virus and challenges. The report stressed that the most important steps to confront this pandemic and its repercussions is the fair and comprehensive distribution of vaccines, noting the importance of the role of national parliaments in this regard through their legislative and oversight competencies.

For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Boushehab Al-Suwaidi, member of the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee, stressed the importance of the Arab Parliament session, which adopted the report on the economic situation in the Arab world for the year 2020, and discussed the draft budget of the Arab Parliament for the year 2021-2022, and reviewed the committee’s draft work plan for the second session of the legislative term the third.

For her part, H.E. Shatha Al-Naqbi, Vice-Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committee, stated that today’s Arab Parliament session appreciated the accession of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations Human Rights Council, as well as Egypt’s preparation of the national strategy for human rights, and discussed the report that monitors the prominent development achieved by countries Arabic in the field of human rights.

She explained that the session discussed the report of the Legislative and Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committee on its work plan for the second session, as well as a memorandum on preparing an Arab vision to confront climate change and its impact on human rights in the Arab world.
