The Egyptian Al-Ahly player undergoes cruciate ligament surgery in Austria
Al-Ahly Club of Egypt announced today that Ammar Hamdy, midfielder for the club's first football team, will travel to Austria today to undergo cruciate ligament surgery after he was injured during the team's camp in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi on the sidelines of the team's participation in the Club World Cup.
Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla, Al-Ahly’s team doctor, said in statements to the club’s official website today, that the day after tomorrow, Sunday, was set as a date for Ammar Hamdi’s surgery, as only medical examinations would take place tomorrow.
Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla also revealed that Akram Tawfiq, the team's midfielder, will start his rehabilitation program in Qatar tomorrow, Saturday, after the cruciate ligament surgery he recently performed in Austria.
He explained that Akram Tawfiq arrived in Qatar yesterday and underwent a medical examination at the Aspetar Center under the supervision of orthopedic surgeon Manuel Papa Costa, who praised the player's surgery in Austria and the first phase of the physiotherapy program.
Akram Tawfik suffered a cruciate ligament injury during the Egyptian team's match against Nigeria in the African Nations Cup, which was held recently in Cameroon.
