The number of first doses of the domestic corona vaccine exceeded 30 million today (5th).

This is the number achieved on the 192th day since the inoculation started on February 26th.

Vaccinations for 18-49 year olds, the main target of inoculation in the third quarter, started on the 26th of last month, and the speed of inoculation is accelerating.

According to the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, the cumulative number of first-time vaccine recipients was 30,100 as of 11:15 am today.

As of the end of last year, this corresponds to about 58.4% of the total population of 51,349,116 in Korea.

If you consider only those 18 years of age or older, the target age for vaccination, the level is 68.0%.

17,747,159 people who received all of the vaccinations according to the recommended number of vaccines (Pfizer, AZ, Moderna, 2 doses, Janssen 1) were 34.6% of the population.

The government plans to complete the primary vaccination for 36 million people, 70% of the domestic population, by the 19th, when the Chuseok holiday begins.

However, experts point out that, contrary to the expectations of some that herd immunity will be achieved in October this way, due to the nature of the delta mutation, herd immunity cannot be formed with a primary vaccination rate of 70%.

An official from the Vaccination Promotion Team said, "As the remaining vaccines are being inoculated at a certain level every day, it is expected that the goal of the first vaccination of 36 million people will be achieved without any setbacks before Chuseok."
