“Last night in Moscow, Alexander Vedernikov, the chief conductor and musical director of the Mikhailovsky Theater, passed away.
The last performance he conducted was the opera Rural Honor on October 4 at the opening of the opera season, ”the press service said.
Since February 2019 Vedernikov has been the musical director and chief conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theater.
In December 2019, it was reported that People's Artist of the RSFSR, conductor Maris Jansons died at the age of 76 in St. Petersburg.
