Weidenstetten (dpa / lsw) - After the fire of three inhabited caravans in Weidenstetten (Alb-Donau district) in mid-March, the cause of the fire is still unclear.

According to initial findings, the fire should have originated inside a caravan, as the public prosecutor and police headquarters in Ulm announced on Wednesday.

How that happened is currently unclear.

There is no evidence of deliberate arson.

The investigation was in full swing.

One of the residents of the caravans had noticed the fire in the early morning of March 19 and made two other residents aware of it.

All three were unharmed.

After the incident, the Association of Sinti and Roma pointed out that the victims were a circus troupe to which Sinti belonged.

An antigypsy arson attack cannot be ruled out, it said.

A spokeswoman for the Ulm Police Headquarters said there was no evidence so far.
