Monday August 2 - day 10

French women of the day

It will play tight tonight on the side of French female co-sport. The French handball players and basketball players will indeed play their places in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympic Games, after mixed starts in the group stages. The daughters of Olivier Krumbholz, who have only had a small victory since the start of the competition, face Brazil at 4 am. A victory against the South American team, against which France has not lost since 2015, would be enough to finish fourth in Group B and go into the quarterfinals. On the side of the basketball players, who challenge the USA at 6:40 a.m., if a victory for Nigeria against Japan (kick-off at 3 a.m.) would give them a qualification even before playing,a success of the Japanese would on the other hand oblige the band to Valérie Garnier to win against the Americans to hope to see the quarters.

The (new) star of the day

If you don't know her yet, it's not too late to meet Puerto Rican Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, who keeps pushing the times in the 100m hurdles.

After breaking the Olympic record with a time of 12''26 in the semifinals, the Puerto Rican should logically go for gold on Monday.

Meet at 4:50 am to follow a possible new Olympic record.

The medal that we hope strong, strong, strong

The medal ?

And why not THE medals!

?

First and second in the 25m rapid pistol qualifications, Clément Bessaguet and Jean Quiquampoix should logically be there for the final.

During the last European Championships, the two men recently showed that they were capable of taking up such a challenge, with gold for Quiquampoix and bronze for Bessaguet.

They will compete with the reigning Olympic champion, the German Christian Reitz.

Reading tip of the day

Nicolas, our special correspondent in Tokyo, stayed up until late Sunday evening to prepare this portrait of the Italian Marcell Jacobs, the unknown in the battalion who became in 9''80 the new king of the 100 m.

We're talking about a dark stranger, but don't see that as an insult, it's just that the 26-year-old sprinter had no solid reference before showing his mouth in bloom in Tokyo.
