On October 17, the commemoration of the discovery of Yangshao culture and the 100th anniversary of the birth of modern Chinese archaeology opened in Sanmenxia City, Henan Province.
In October 1921, the excavation of the Yangshao site in Mianchi County, Sanmenxia City, Henan Province opened the prelude to modern Chinese archaeology.
The event was co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage of China, and the People's Government of Henan Province.
