The trial of Moufide Bouchibi, presented as one of the biggest French drug traffickers, opened in Bordeaux in a stormy climate, after ten years on the run and his fall in Dubai in March.
Nicknamed "Mouf", the 41-year-old Franco-Algerian is being prosecuted for ten go-fasts and the importation from Morocco of hundreds of kilos of cannabis resin in 2011 and 2012. The man is on trial until Thursday. for the second time for these facts by the criminal court which sentenced him in 2015 in his absence to 20 years in prison and a million euros fine.

A "disguised extradition"?
His lawyers denounce "a real scandal" and "a total bankruptcy" of justice, "he is sequestered", indignant one of his defenders Me Thomas Bidnic. "This trial is simply impossible, it cannot take place," he told reporters. For the lawyer, the man was the victim of a "disguised extradition" for having been transferred to France "outside any extradition procedure", while a Franco-Dubai convention required it. Open in the morning, the trial quickly turned into a stormy climate and has already been suspended four times at midday, after lively exchanges between magistrates and the trio of lawyers. The defendant, a tight-fitting white shirt and cropped hair, first claimed to have been taken out of prison "willingly or by force" by the prison officers when he complained of "having had a headache for four days", without being able to see a doctor.
The defendant was finally declared fit to stand trial, the hearing was able to resume before being suspended again.
In question: the lawyers want to verify the legality of the extraction "by force" of the detainee from his prison in Gradignan, in the Bordeaux suburbs.
They wonder: was the transmission slip issued by the prosecution before or after the start of the hearing?
At 2 p.m., the trial had still not started on the merits.
Moufide Bouchibi entered into large-scale drug trafficking by associating in the early 2000s with an Alsatian, Sophiane Hambli, known as "the Chimera", also considered one of the biggest French traffickers.
