October 24, 2021 A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck the northeastern part of the island of Taiwan. The local meteorological agency reports. The tremor, very strong, was clearly felt in the capital Taipei at 11.16 local time (05.16 Italian time). The epicenter of the earthquake, according to the Central Weather Bureau of Taiwan, quoted by the Taiwan News agency, was located on the north-east coast, a few kilometers south of the city of Yilan, and at a depth of about 67 km in the Earth's crust.



Residents said the quake was also strongly felt in the capital, Taipei. Images of shops and supermarkets with products thrown to the ground by the quake begin to circulate on social networks, but for now there is no information of significant damage or injuries.
