Of the 162 independent schools, most are primary schools, 111.

The rest are independent high schools.

16 of 49 municipalities lack independent schools, but two of them (Svenljunga and Tibro) will soon have their first.

Here is the full list of independent schools that are underway:

SVENLJUNGA - Ljunghaga independent school F-6 starts in the autumn of 2022.

PARTILLE - The International English School has received permission from the Swedish Schools Inspectorate.

HÄRRYDA - The International English School has plans for a primary school in Djupedalsäng (Mölnlycke).

UDDEVALLA - Nordic International School has received permission from the Swedish Schools Inspectorate to start a primary school.

LERUM - Nordic international school has received a permit from the Swedish Schools Inspectorate for a school in grades 4-9, the International English School has a plot for grades F-9, but no permit yet from the Swedish Schools Inspectorate.

TIBRO - Ohlinsgymnasiet has signed a letter of intent with the municipality.

Raul Wallenbergskolan has received a permit for F-9 from the Swedish Schools Inspectorate. 

GOTHENBURG - Fridaskolorna AB starts autumn 23, International English school starts autumn 24, Vindseglet AB plans to start a unit autumn 22, Nordic International School AB, Utbildia AB and RM Education all have three permits.

SKÖVDE - The Västra Götaland region will start a nature management education.

MÖLNDAL - American International School of Sweden AB has plans to start F-class for high school.

LIDKÖPING - Raoul Wallenbergskolan years 7-9, starts operations for years 7-8 in August 2022.
