Jo Joo-bin (25, male), who was handed over to trial for making and distributing sexual exploitation of minors through the Internet messenger telegram chat room 'Doctor's Room', was sentenced to 42 years in prison by the Supreme Court.

The 2nd part of the Supreme Court (Chief Justice Lee Dong-won) was sentenced to 42 in the appeals court today (14th) on charges of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Youth, organizing criminal groups, preparatory murder, quasi-rape, forced molestation, fraud, and violating the Narcotics Control Act. The appeal of Mr. Cho, who was sentenced to two years, was dismissed.

Orders such as disclosure and notification of personal information for 10 years, restrictions on employment at child and youth-related organizations and welfare facilities for the disabled, attachment of electronic location tracking devices (electronic anklets) for 30 years, and additional collection of 100 million won were also maintained.

This is about 19 months after Mr. Cho was arrested by the police on March 16 last year.

Cho was indicted in April last year on charges of blackmailing dozens of female victims, including children and adolescents, from May 2019 to February last year, filming sexual exploitation, and selling and distributing it through a doctor's room.

He was also accused of organizing a doctor's room, a criminal group for the production and distribution of sexual exploitation.

Prosecutors viewed the doctor's room as a criminal group to the extent that it went beyond a simple pornography sharing group by dividing roles for the purpose of crime and creating internal rules.

While acknowledging the charge of making and distributing sexual exploitation, Cho argued that the doctor's room was not a criminal group and claimed that some evidence from the prosecution was illegally collected, but both the first and second trial admitted guilty of most of the charges.

In the first trial, Cho pleaded guilty to all charges except for the part where the indictment was dismissed by agreement with some victims and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

He was sentenced to five years in prison for the charge of concealing criminal proceeds, which was conducted separately, and Cho's first trial is 45 years in prison.

In the second trial, the two cases were merged, and Cho was sentenced to 42 years in prison considering that he had an additional agreement with some victims.
