"Suntory Foods International", a major beverage maker, has been excluding some prices of beverages in PET bottles from October due to the rise in procurement costs of PET bottles and soaring raw material prices due to high crude oil prices. We announced that we will raise the price by 20 yen per bottle.

According to the announcement, most of the beverage brands sold by the company, such as mineral water, green tea, oolong tea, and coffee, will be shipped from October 1st, with some exceptions. It means raising the retail price by 20 yen per bottle without tax.

Of these, the price of PET bottle products of 500 ml or less has increased for the first time in about 24 years, and the increase has been the largest since its introduction in 1996.

Regarding the reason for the price increase In the company, in addition to the rise in the procurement cost of PET bottles due to the soaring crude oil price, the purchase price of raw materials such as coffee beans and sugar also soars due to the tight supply and demand and the rapid depreciation of the yen. However, it is said that the uncertain situation will continue in the future.

Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan, a major beverage company, has also raised the prices of 1.5-liter and 2-liter PET bottle products from this month, and plans to review the prices of small PET bottle products by the end of the year. It is expected that the prices of beverages that are familiar to people will increase further in the future.
