Okinawa Prefecture held a meeting of the emergency response team on the 27th, and confirmed the policy of preparing for this week and aiming for the early removal of pumice stones.

In August, a large amount of pumice stones erupted by the eruption of the submarine volcano "Fukutoku Okanoba" in the Ogasawara Islands was confirmed to have been washed ashore on the main island of Okinawa from mid-October, affecting the fishing and tourism industries. It has come out.



As a result of inquiries from 35 fishing cooperatives in Okinawa Prefecture, as of the 25th, about 750 fishing boats were unable to go fishing due to concerns about engine trouble caused by pumice stones.

On the 27th, the prefecture held the first meeting of the emergency response team and confirmed the policy of promptly removing pumice stones in the fishing port while utilizing the national disaster recovery project.



On top of that, the prefecture hopes to proceed with contracts with contractors within this week and prepare for removal.

Governor Tamaki of Okinawa Prefecture said, "It is necessary for the prefecture to work across the board, and I would like each department to take measures with a sense of speed."
