09 July 2021The LXXV Strega prize for Italian literature goes, as expected, to Emanuele Trevi with "Due vite". The book brings the publisher Neri Pozza to victory for the first time. Novel, autobiography, 'Due vite' is a special book that tells of the friendship that linked Trevi to two writers who died prematurely, Rocco Carbone and Pia Pera.

"I dedicate it to my mother who passed away during this hellish period of human history who would have enjoyed seeing me on television. And then to a friend, Lorenzo Capellini who is in a difficult moment and was close to me until a few days ago. , in the midst of this adventure "said Trevi. Emanuele Trevi got 187 votes. The writer had come close to winning the Strega Prize in 2012.

The Mondadori publishing house was absent after the unexpected exclusion of Teresa Ciabatti from the five, but present as a group with Einaudi, editor of Donatella Di Pietrantonio's 'Borgo Sud'. Already winner of the Campiello Prize 2017, Di Pietrantonio finished second, 135 votes, with a story that tells of sisterhood and the consequences of lack of love.

Three women in the five in the race, with not far from Di Pietrantonio, Edith Bruck with "Il Pane perduto", published by La nave di Teseo, already winner of the Strega Giovani. Her novel in which she retraced her life at the age of 90, from deportation to concentration camps when she was still a child, has received 123 votes to the present.

In fourth place Giulia Caminito, with her 'The water of the lake is never sweet' (Bompiani), 78 votes and in fifth place Andrea Bajani with 'The book of houses' (Feltrinelli), 66 votes.

At the Ninfeo di Villa Giulia, in an evening that for the second year saw a reduced audience, due to the restrictions for the pandemic, the final was conducted live on Rai3 by Geppi Cucciari. Sandro Veronesi, winner of the Premio Strega 2020, presided over the seat.
