[Explanation] In the past few days, every working day, China’s 18th group of demining officers and soldiers went to the Lewis and multi-functional engineering units to go to sensitive areas of the "Blue Line" border between Lebanon and Israel, more than 50 kilometers away from the camp, to carry out humanitarian demining missions.

【Explanation】Humanitarian demining is a demining operation to restore the local people's safe living environment and return the land to normal use. The start of the mission of Chinese mine-clearance officers and soldiers to Lebanon and Lebanon marked the reopening of the humanitarian mine-clearance operation of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon that had been interrupted for 10 years due to various reasons.

[Same period] Zheng Hongliang, the 18th batch of demining supervisors of China’s peacekeeping troops to Lebanon

This minefield is the first humanitarian mine clearance mine site assigned by UNIFIL. This minefield has been lost due to its relatively old age. According to the mission instructions, we do not know what and how many mines there are in this minefield, and that the border is severely damaged. Therefore, in the mission instruction, according to the instruction of J3 (UNILI Command Operations Department), it is determined that this is an anti-tank minefield. As the boundary of this minefield disappeared, it brought great difficulty to our work.

[Explanation] Minesweeper is a matter of life and death. Unclear information about the number and types of mines in the minefield is tantamount to crossing the river by touching stones. From the debris in the ammunition debris collection pit, it can be seen that there are a lot of shell fragments in the minefield. Moreover, the barbed wire and barbed wire used to enclose the minefield are seriously corroded and scattered in the minefield. During the detection process, the sound of the metal signal source found by the mine detector was everywhere, which caused great trouble to the mine clearance operation.

[Same period] Fan Qinggong, the 18th batch of mine clearance operators in China

In our minefield, the containment facilities have been destroyed, and there are many signal sources, such as iron nails, barbed wire or mines. In the process of our handling, it will be more troublesome, and it also brings great hidden dangers to our security. At the same time, we must dig out the signal source layer by layer in accordance with the method of eliminating landmines. We must not have the luck psychology, and we must ensure our absolute safety.

[Explanation] Lebanon is hot in summer, with an average temperature of 32 degrees Celsius and a noon surface temperature of up to 50 degrees Celsius. In such weather, the minesweeper wears sultry protective clothing on his knees, cuts vegetation with small scissors, and digs the signal source like an archaeologist with a small shovel.

[Same period] Tang Zedong, the 18th batch of mine clearance operators in China

Because of the hot weather and long-term use, we will detect the sensitivity of the mine detector every 15 minutes to ensure the safety of the operation.

[Commentary] It is reported that since China’s demining soldiers in Lebanon went to the new minefield on June 1 to carry out humanitarian demining missions, the area of anti-tank minefields has been cleared up to 593 square meters as of July 1.
