September 16, 2021 Ten people were rescued by the Fire Brigade, after being trapped in their cars, in the outer perimeter of Milan Malpensa (Varese) international airport, due to flooding caused by a violent storm.

At work the river rescue specialists, also employed in the Cargo area, where about twenty people were evacuated with rafting boats.

There were several problems with the extra Shengen customs at the airport which, after being closed, was then partially reopened to disembark the passengers of a flight that had just landed.

Three planes were instead diverted to other airports.
