Warsaw (dpa) - Led by Frank Stäbler and three other Olympic starters, the German Wrestling Association is going to the European Championships in Warsaw with a total of 21 athletes.

For the three-time world champion Stäbler as well as Denis Kudla, Eduard Popp and Aline Rotter-Focken, the continental title fights next week will be the last major tournament before the summer games in Tokyo in August.

Stäbler competes in Poland in the Greco-Roman weight class up to 72 kilograms - at the Olympics he has to fight in the category up to 67 kilograms, but only wants to do the extreme weight loss procedure once at the end of his career.

A total of eight Greco-Roman athletes, seven freestyle athletes and six women will be at the start.

There are no mat fighters who recently competed in the European Olympic qualification tournament and also those who want to secure tickets for the season highlight in summer at the last qualifying event for Tokyo in May.
