Spotify has (finally) lifted the veil on its first accessory: the "Car Thing" is a small screen that will allow motorists to access the streaming platform without having to take out their smartphone.
This equipment is therefore mainly aimed at those who do not have a state-of-the-art car, reports

.
It had been a while since rumors swirled around an accessory that could be marketed by Spotify.
It's now official with this “Car Thing” which is more of a secondary screen for the music streaming application than a sort of autonomous car radio.
Today, we're excited to announce our newest exploration: the limited release of Car Thing, a new smart player that fills your car with music, news, entertainment, talk and more.

Sold for $ 79.99
In concrete terms, this accessory must be powered via the vehicle's 12 V cigarette lighter socket.
It must also be connected to the Internet via a smartphone and connected to the vehicle's audio device using Bluetooth, an auxiliary socket or a USB input.
Once all of these connections are in place, the “Car Thing” makes it possible to navigate in a simple and efficient way on the Spotify application, in particular thanks to a large dial, its imposing screen and four buttons.
In addition, a voice assistant has been integrated.
The motorist can therefore say "Hey Spotify" to launch a song or a playlist.
The "Car Thing" will be marketed at a price of $ 79.99.
At first, however, Spotify decided to offer it to its Premium customers in the United States, the latter will only have to pay the delivery costs.
In a second step, the accessory will potentially be marketed in other countries.
