“The future of the East – economic, social and political – is decided in Schwedt an der Oder,” said Rennefants. 

She noted that the oil embargo threatens the existence of an oil refinery located there, which receives raw materials exclusively from Russia through the Druzhba pipeline.

“The PCK refinery could be the first German victim of the crisis in Ukraine,” Rennefants warned.

Earlier, the head of the German Industrial Union (BDI), Siegfried Russwurm, said that the consequences of an embargo on Russian gas would now be catastrophic for the German economy.
