After Instagram, it's Snapchat's turn to officially launch its parental control system.

Called "Family Center", the feature allows parents of teenage users of the application to monitor part of their activity, reports

.

This parental control does not apply to younger children, users under the age of 13 are not allowed to access the social network.

In concrete terms, parents will be able to find out which people are exchanging their children with.

The content of the messages is kept secret.

Better protect minors

The company would thus have aimed to “reproduce the dynamics of real-world relationships and foster trust between parents and adolescents”.

Clearly, the “Family Center” allows you to virtually monitor the attendance of your children.

To access it, both parent and child accounts must be signed in to Family Center.

This tool is part of a global movement aimed at improving the protection of minors on social networks.

Through the Facebook Papers, it had indeed been revealed that the platforms had measured the negative impact they had on young people, without taking action.

The various social networks have been called to testify before the American Congress.

In France, the National Assembly has meanwhile voted for an obligation to pre-install parental control on connected screens.

Snapchat should also gradually improve its “Family Center” by adding the possibility of seeing the reports issued by the child.
