"Singapore has long-term, constructive and trusting relations with the parties to the agreement - Australia, Great Britain, the United States - and does not feel fears about the AUKUS format," TASS quoted Balakrishnan as saying.

The diplomat expressed hope that the new mechanism will complement the regional structure, in the center of which is the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

He added that Singapore is closely watching the reaction of other states to the news about the formation of AUKUS.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier that the free format of partnership between Australia, Great Britain and the United States could interest the EU in rapprochement with Russia.
