During a mapping mission of the ocean floor, off Tasmania, the Australian research vessel "Investigator" of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) had the chance to see a meteor pass in the sky .

The camera on the boat has kept a memory of this phenomenon observed on November 18, at 9:21 p.m. local time, reports

At the time, members of the ship's crew took advantage of this phenomenon, admiring the spectacle without thinking of immortalizing it.

Then, they realized that a camera installed on the boat was filming continuously and that it must therefore have captured this moment when the meteor crosses the sky before disintegrating.

" In the right place at the right time "

“Cameras are everywhere, in our pockets, in cities, but they need to be pointed at the right place at the right time.

The Investigator was in the right place at the right time, ”said Glen Nagle, who was on board the ship.

Even though more than 100 tons of space debris enters the atmosphere every day, it is still rare to obtain such images.

And for good reason, these phenomena occur in unpopulated areas of the Earth ...
