While swimming in the ocean, an Australian woman picked up an unfamiliar sea creature.
After filming herself holding the animal in her hands and posting the video on TikTok on Saturday, netizens informed her that it was a blue-ringed octopus, one of the sea animals "the most dangerous in the world,” reports

“You are lucky to be alive”, wrote a user in the comments of the publication.
When it feels threatened, which results in the appearance of these blue rings, this octopus of about fifteen centimeters can release a powerful poison: tetrodotoxin.
The latter can cause respiratory failure in humans and, in some cases, complete paralysis of the respiratory muscles leading to death.
Three dead in Australia
The animal has been described by the Australian Museum as "one of the most dangerous animals in the sea".
It is present in southern Australia, in rock pools, reefs and temperate shallow waters.
It is also found in New Caledonia and on various reefs in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.
In Australia alone, the blue-ringed octopus has caused the death of at least three people, as well as many injuries, specifies BFMTV.
The damage is amplified by the fact that the animal's bite may, at first, not be felt.
However, the risk of being hit by this octopus remains relatively low, the latter remaining "very shy and non-aggressive creatures, which prefer to hide under ledges and in crevices", explains the Australian Museum.
