The software provider TeamViewer has entered into a strategic partnership with SAP.

Together we are driving the digital transformation in the industry, says the headline of the information sent as mandatory information on Monday.

The shareholders liked that. After the TeamViewer course had started the day in the red, it climbed higher and higher over the course of the day.

At the close of trading, the share cost 32.39 euros, almost 6 percent more.

The cooperation with SAP starts in a field that is still quite new for TeamViewer. It is not about the familiar remote maintenance on the computer, but about digital care and maintenance of systems in an industrial environment. One of the first use cases is to relate to “TeamViewer Frontline”, a system that uses data glasses and augmented reality (AR) to support employees in mechanical engineering or component production by experts from a distance. Frontline is already used by corporations such as DHL, BMW or the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, for each of which an individual integration into the local processes has been created.

Because the conditions are different everywhere, there are the necessary interfaces, assures TeamViewer. In this way, the broad customer base of SAP is available as a potential clientele, regardless of the question of which hardware it is about. The mutual customers could then benefit from the fact that the steps processed via Frontline are automatically stored in the SAP system and are therefore traceable. Inclusion in merchandise management systems is also conceivable.

According to TeamViewer, these first application scenarios would be marketed globally as part of the partnership with SAP. Investors apparently do not expect such great benefits for SAP. Although the SAP price turned from minus to plus and then consistently quoted more than one percent above the Friday value, the size of the business on a corporate scale is small. The frontline system is based on the AR technology from Ubimax. TeamViewer bought Ubimax for 136 million euros last summer in order to penetrate the field of networked industry.
