Four men were sentenced Wednesday, before the criminal court of Béziers (Hérault), for having committed violence on six police officers, on August 23, in the sub-prefecture of Hérault.
None of them, however, admitted to being the author of violence, "claiming on the contrary to have undergone violent arrests by the police", indicates Raphaël Balland, the public prosecutor.
Kept in detention
According to the elements resulting from the investigation, on August 23, the police officers were verbally and physically assaulted by these four individuals after having informed them that they could not leave with their car, all being positive for alcohol test and obviously drunk.
The most seriously injured policeman suffered from three fractures to his face, including one to his nose.
A second had lost consciousness.
The driver of the vehicle, also convicted of repeat drunk driving, was sentenced to three years in prison, including nine months with probation, the cancellation of his driving license and the confiscation of his vehicle.
The other three men were sentenced to three years in prison, one of which was suspended on probation.
They were kept in detention.
