Potsdam (dpa) - Federal Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) has called for a "final spurt" before the planned nationwide corona rules to clear the way for possible openings.
"You need extra air - and that is exactly what we need so that we, as it were, do not push back too far the point in time when the vaccination leads to the number of infections remaining permanently low," said the Vice Chancellor on Saturday at an online discussion by the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce and Industry with representatives from the catering industry
Scholz hopes that prospects for openings will be possible in May.
If the infection numbers went down, opening steps should then be taken little by little, he said.
"I have the feeling that a month ahead it could be that we can bring ourselves to create a clarity."
If there is the feeling that the seven-day incidence remains below 100, "we should also make bold decisions about the question of when and what is definitely open".
The Vice Chancellor promoted the planned nationwide uniform rules for regions with high numbers of infections.
It is about clarity everywhere in Germany, "so that there are no differences and everyone knows what they are about and something new is not being told every day, so that everyone is completely confused," said the minister.
The Infection Protection Act only stipulates what has long been agreed.
"There's no big innovation here, one or the other."
