Leipzig (dpa / sn) - Two associations as well as an initiative, municipality and cultural institution have received the Saxon Inclusion Prize 2020.

The winners are exemplary for the integration of disabled people in the Free State, said the government representative for the concerns of people with disabilities, Stephan Pöhler, according to a statement on Thursday.

The many applications showed "that something is changing in people's minds, the train of thought of inclusion is gradually becoming more firmly anchored and deepened."

The award, presented every two years in five categories, is endowed with 1000 euros each.

A total of 60 institutions and initiatives had applied this time.

The exhibition of the Chemnitz White Stock Association "SinnReich" was convincing because of the change of perspective, which reduces fear of contact and prejudice.

Visitors are guided through darkened rooms by the blind and visually impaired.

The jury believes that the joint training of disabled and non-disabled people in the Leipziger Land Bouleclub promotes mutual understanding.

A special prize went to the Leipzig Bach Museum, which has been developing offers for mobility-impaired, deaf, blind and visually impaired, hard of hearing, mentally and learning disabled visitors since 2010.

With the “Sensory friendly” project, it made museum visits possible for people from the autistic spectrum.
